SPOILER
Ra returns in SG-1 season finale
The biggest, baddest System Lord of them all will finally return to Stargate after a 10-year absence, GateWorld has learned. Ra, the alien villain from 1994's "Stargate" feature film will be reintroduced to TV viewers, thanks to the magic of science fiction.
Casting of the character is still unknown, though it is likely that Ra will remain behind his ceremonial mask when he appears on screen. He was originally played by Jaye Davidson in the film; Davidson is no longer actively acting.
The film reveals that it was Ra who first encountered humans when he discovered Earth 10,000 years ago. He and the rest of the Goa'uld enslaved the planet, using the Stargate to transplant their new servants to hundreds of worlds across the galaxy. After reigning on Earth for millenia, Ra was overthrown by an uprising among the ancient Egyptians, who buried the Stargate.
SG-1's eighth season concludes with "Moebius," a 2-part episode that will involve time travel and an alternate time line. The episode will air in early 2005 on The SCI FI Channel.
