    Special Features

    * Commentary – with actors John Levene and Susan Penhaligon, producer Barry Letts, production assistant Marion McDougall, modern British television writers Graham Duff, Phil Ford, Joe Lidster and James Moran, moderated by Toby Hadoke.
Meine Güte, so viele?

Die fallen dahinter etwas zurück vom Spaßfaktor her )

    * Between Now… and Now! – Professor Jim Al Khalili looks at the science behind ‘The Time Monster’. With producer Barry Letts, actors Katy Manning and Richard Franklin.

      Underworld

Featuring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor

This episode takes us onboard a Minyan space craft, the R1C, commanded by a man named Jackson. Jackson and his crew are on a long quest to recover the Minyan race banks from a ship called the P7E which left their planet centuries ago. The Doctor helps to free the R1C after it becomes buried in a meteorite storm, but then it crashes into another newly-formed planet.

Inside the planet is a system of caves at the heart of which is the P7E. The P7E's computer, the Oracle, was programmed to protect the race banks but subsequently went insane and - with the aid of its robotic servants, the Seers - imposed its rule upon the Minyan survivors and their descendants. It allows Jackson to take what appear to be the race banks, but they are actually imitations containing fission grenades. Will the Doctor realise the deception and save the day?

      Special Features

      * Commentary - with actors Tom Baker and Louise Jameson, co-writer Bob Baker.
      * Into the Unknown – a look at the complex production of this story, with particular emphasis on the reasons for, and difficulties in achieving, the bluescreen virtual studio sets. With script editor Anthony Read, writers Bob Baker and Dave Martin, actors Jonathan Newth and Norman Tipton, designer Dick Coles and video effects designer AJ ‘Mitch’ Mitchell, with rare convention footage of producer Graham Williams.
      * Underworld - In Studio – using timecoded Shibaden and U-matic video recordings, we are given a rare glimpse inside the studio during the recording of this story, much of which involved the use of bluescreen virtual studio techniques.

Endspurt - die letzte Folge der Box.

        The Horns Of Nimon

A journey to the great maze of the Power Complex where the dreaded Nimon dwells, a fearsome monster with immense scientific powers. The Nimon has promised to restore the Skonnan Empire to its former glory, but first it demands sacrifice - youths and maidens from the peaceful planet Aneth.

The TARDIS collides with the space ship delivering the victims, and the captured Romana is condemned to be sacrificed to the Nimon. Aided by the faithful K-9, the Doctor goes to the rescue.

        Special Features

        * Commentary - with actors Lalla Ward, Janet Ellis and Graham Crowden and writer Anthony Read.
        * Who Peter – Partners in Time – since the birth of Doctor Who in the sixties, it has shared an almost symbiotic relationship with the long-running BBC children’s magazine show ‘Blue Peter’. In this special documentary, some of those involved look back over the history of that relationship.
        * Read the Writer – Anthony Read, writer of ‘The Horns of Nimon’, looks back at the production of the story.
        * Peter Howell Music Demos – in 1980, incoming producer John Nathan-Turner asked Radiophonic Workshop composers for demos of their music over the beginning of episode two of ‘The Horns of Nimon’. Only Peter Howell’s demo is known to exist and is presented here.

          The Creature from the Pit

Featuring Tom Baker as The 4th Doctor
          VÖ: 03.05.2010

The Doctor and Romana receive a distress signal and arrive on Chloris, a lush and verdant world that has only small quantities of metals, all of which are controlled by its ruler, Lady Adrasta.

Adrasta keeps order with the aid of her Huntsman and his wolfweeds - mobile balls of vegetation, while a band of scruffy thieves, led by Torvin, organize raids on her palace to steal whatever metal they can.

The Doctor identifies the distress signal's source as a large eggshell-like structure in the forest. He is taken prisoner By Adrasta's guards and, in order to escape, leaps into the Pit - the entrance to a cave system into which all who incur Adrasta's wrath are consigned to be devoured by an immense green globular creature living within.

Can the Doctor escape from the creature of the Pit and save Chloris?

            The King's Demons

Featurin Peter Davison as The 5th Doctor
            VÖ: 14.06.2010

It is 13th Century England and King John is visiting the castle stronghold of Sir Ranulph Fitzwilliam. Ranulf's personal fortune has dwindled away, freely donated to King John to help fund the Crusade.

When the TARDIS materialises and disturbs a jousting duel, the Doctor's party are proclaimed friendly demons by the King, who seems strangely interested in their 'blue engine'. Before long the Doctor becomes embroiled in court politics, and he realises that there is far more to the situation than a simple battle of honour between nobles.

Ranulf's cousin, Sir Geoffrey de Lacey, arrives at the castle and is astonished to find the King present. He has just left His Majesty in London preparing to sign Magna Carta, a document that will shape the future of democracy in the western world. The Doctor learns that neither the King nor Sir Gilles Estram are exactly who they claim, and that their true identities involve a battle-ravaged alien planet light-years away, and one of the Doctor's oldest and deadliest enemies...

            Special Features:

            • Audio Commentary - with actors Peter Davison and Isla Blair, script editor Eric Saward. Plus a bonus commentary with director Tony Virgo on episode one only.
            • Kamelion - Metal Man - this documentary looks at the short history of the Doctor's robotic companion.
            • Magna Carta - In the story, the Master tries to alter history by preventing the signing of the Magna Carta. But what exactly is the Magna Carta and what is its relevance both throughout history and to our lives today?

Ist da schon was bekannt? Erscheint ja in derselben Box).

                Planet of Fire

Featuring Peter Davison as The 5th Doctor
                VÖ: 14.06.2010

A strange signal from Earth draws the TARDIS to the island of Lanzarote. While the Doctor tries to track the source of the signal, his companion Turlough rescues a young girl, Peri, from drowning. She is holding an artefact made from platinum bearing a strange symbol - the same symbol that Turlough himself carries on his arm, branded into the flesh...

It is the artefact that is emitting the signal, leading them all to the planet Sarn, a world ravaged by volcanoes and yet holding the secret of eternal life. But an old foe of the Doctor's is desperate for this elixir, and will stop at nothing to gain it.

What is Turlough's link to the artefact? What is the nature of Sarn's mythical god, Logar, and how is it linked to the ruined spaceship crashed on a mountainside? As age-old systems of belief begin to break down, will anyone escape from the planet of fire with their life?

Doctor Who - The Black Guardian Trilogy DVD 1983: Amazon.co.uk: Peter Davison, Lynda Baron, Sarah Sutton, Nicholas Courtney, Janet Fielding, Mark Strickson, Peter Collings, Keith Barron, Valentine Dyall, Cyril Luckham, Peter Moffatt, Mary Ridge, Fion
