REPORTS HAVE JOHN LOGAN AS STX WRITER
Star Trek Continuum*, the official Trek site, has confirmed the
latest rumor--John Logan* ("Gladiator," "RKO218," "Bats") is the
writer of "Star Trek X." I know it will please Flagship newsletter
subscribers that I finally have some real news with which to clog
their mailboxes. Congrats to Corona Coming Attractions*, TrekWeb*,
and Cinescape OnLine* for getting this rumor in the first place. I
look forward to seeing Mr. Logan's work, and thanks to Paramount for
finally announcing this first bit of official info--and on my
birthday, no less. Thanks to Gustavo for the word!
The info, from "Dispatch: "Star Trek X" Writer Revealed"*:
The next Star Trek film will inject some new creative blood
into the mix with the addition of John Logan as the primary
screenwriter. Logan's previous film credits include "Bats"
(1999) and work on the screenplays for "Any Given Sunday" and
"Gladiator," as well as last year's acclaimed TV movie "RKO
281."
In terms of the next film, Star Trek Executive Producer Rick
Berman recently told the Star Trek Communicator magazine fans
can expect "a very action-oriented story that revolves around a
remarkable villain. A higher percentage of this film will take
place in outer space than in our previous films."
"Star Trek X" (tentative title) is scheduled for release the
weekend of Thanksgiving 2001.
