REUTERS reported over the holiday that HARRY POTTER author J. K. Rowling took time with a dying nine-year-old girl to read some of the then-unfinished HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE over the phone. The girl passed away in May of 2000.
Rowling had previously read the first three books to the ailing girl, Catie Hoch. Rowling is quoted as telling the bereaved parents, via e-mail, "I consider myself privileged to have had contact with Catie...I am crying so hard as I type. She left footprints on my heart."
